Every year, UMBC produces a student handbook that, in addition to containing a weekly planner, also contains the university's policies and details campus resources -- important information for all students, which is why each incoming freshman is given a copy.
Typically, the calendar pages are produced by an outside company, and the text portion of the book is placed into the file, along with a customized cover. The 2009-2010 handbook has completely redesigned calendar pages, improved for readability and practical usage, and all of the text has been reformatted and restructured for readability, making resources easier to find within the guidebook, and making the university policies (and the many nested lists) more manageable.
The cover design features photographs of typical UMBC students, grabbed for a quick photoshoot while walking through the student union building. I shot each student individually and then created the final composition, which I think is an accurate reflection of UMBC's true diversity.
